PHF announced players for Senior, Junior team

Chief selector Pakistan Hockey Federation Hassan Sardar Tuesday announced players for Pakistan Senior and Junior Hockey Teams camps.

Addressing a press conference here at the National Hockey Stadium, Hasan Sardar named 34 players for senior team camp. The first phase of the training camp will be held from February 20 to March 3 while second phase will start from March 10 at National Hockey Stadium Lahore .

The senior team will play in Azlan Shah Cup in April and Asia Cup in May. Hassan said that they had included senior players likes of Waasim Ahmad, Sohail Abbas, Rehan Butt and Salman Akbar who were contracted with certain clubs to play league hockey till May 2009 and were not allowed to atend the national team camp but the PHF has asked them to get permission from their clubs and they would be considered for the natioal team if they could manage to get the permission.

The selection committee has also named 35 players for junior team camp after the two days trials at National Hockey Stadium.

The training camp will start from 12th February in Rawalpindi . Pakistan Junior hockey team will play four nation tournament in Malaysia and five nation tournament in Egypt in March.
