Pakistan team for World Amateur Golf named

The selection committee of Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) Wednesday named a three-member Pakistan team for the World Amateur Golf Championship for 'Eisenhower Trophy' to be held at Adelaide (Australia) from October 16 to 19.

Team was picked after four rounds of trials held at Islamabad Golf Club in which 20 top amateur golfers from across the country participated. National Champion Safdar was exempted from the trials. Two golfers who topped the trials including Hamza Amin of Islamabad Golf Club and M Ali Hai of Karachi Golf Club were picked. Hamza played rounds of 72, 74, 70 and 75 to end with an aggregate of 291 and Ali Hai secured second spot with a total of 306 after rounds of 78, 78, 73 and 79. Aadil Jehangir was named standby.

Secretary of PGF Taimur Hassan will accompany the team as Manager-cum-Captain of the team and will also attend the meeting of World Golf Council to be held during the course of the championship. Selection committee headed by Rai Azizullah Khan with Asad I A Khan (Sindh), Zulfiqar Rana (Punjab) Malik Aziz (NWFP) finalised the team.
